The Climate and the Dreamers

The Climate

changes plastically,
exhaling bodies shadow the atmosphere,
leaving huge tracks in the night & clouds

life's beautiful efforts
(expressing cold & hot environments)
create homes capturing molten desires
as they succumb or strive for change of scene,
mild comforts,
more sensational habits

animals go extinct like ideas & gods,
convection currents snake with power outages,
intensified doldrums,
trapped whales

fraternities of girders rising from water
shelter alongside butterflies
under roofs of hurricanes

calving off, another day
passes into sunset in hand-me-downs
sewn from sunlight's polyesters

breathing & eyesight,
skin tints & textures,
adapt

neutral earthshaking events are fracked
from carbon's endless metamorphosis

the cold lodged in the warm
is the absence of any agreement

freeway traffic races clouds
in marathons of heat-driven luxuries

the jet stream's oscillations sink & rise
as travelers come & go from the origin

tornadoes approach
in the ungrieving agent orange of building booms

years and miles add up like mists of justice
or rain down like raving leaders

contemplation is an eye passing over:
by what or whom
are entropy & chaos still honored?

what creative accident of careful observation
that was mixed with stomates
is caught in a record dew point
or an abandoned ball of gas?

in what void would concepts of Gaia recoup
to become re-inserted
with a living libation?

The Dreamers

in its presence
there were no words
for the (            )-lessness

their ways were reworded in entreaties,
their own names, mark, the signing

non-being, nor transitioning,
nor warrior, nor peacenik

extemporaneous accounts from time's arrow,
helpless fate of will or won't, immaterial

sleeping & waking entwined
at the base of the skull's mountains
holding anecdote & legend, deer
still there, & there like
rights roaming
in a Freudian if not Jungian interpretation
of 'free'

neutrality of the territory in question,
questions of compensation

rhythms of evolution in all the colors of the rainbow

river in the desert, desert in the river,
testimonies of wheat & slavery, & migrations
imprinted like nursery rhymes
in gold dust glittering on corps of multinational profiteers,
crystals of whose dozes
are fulfilled in huge tracks of playthings

a potato, ear of corn,
assimilation
to which fat? how fat?

a 'participation mystique,' a line
crossed, deported
at some point
goodbye,
reservations having to do with being here

a land bridge, of each life

seeing & holding on
where an indisputable character
returns to itself:
new worlds admitted to, & wonders
from where it's been

honeypots matched against
indigenous 'leave us in peace,'
the various plots of it

suns setting in the east
beneath the plateau's sacred dirt
baptized 'inanimate'

touching on native self-determination,
non-waking, non-sleep, a
journey or dance
unconsigned, un-
signed

germination, incubation,
in a place conceived of time
& timeless,
synchronizing it was said
with birth of course
& of course death

then she spoke:
other than that
Time will come around to tell us
of the end of time
which will never end
